Yeah, just about the chemicals and whatnot. My friend said that if you know anything about developing, it's really easy. You can enter other dorms with an NYU id (as long as you're living on campus), but in exchange for the key to the darkroom you'd have to give them your id to hold onto, and all ids have little stickers identifying what dorm you live in. I would guess that they let kids from any dorm use the darkroom but if they happen to have some weird rule about that, they would know whether you live in Brittany or not.

Twelfth Street is brand new for your year so I don't know anything about it, but it's supposed to be really nice! You have to take and pass a test in order to use the darkroom, it's free, and I'm not sure if you can use it if you don't actually live in Brittany. I know my friend has taken the test for it but I'm not sure if he has actually used it so I don't know if it's in working order.

In response to your post on the NYU group, I would say that Hayden is a lot more social than Third North, but the flip side is that it's also a lot noisier (and people often pull the fire alarm at 3 am). It's also pretty much near everything. Third North is nice because it has the apartment-style deal and stuff like a 24-hour computer lab (with free printing!), but the actual building is kind of depressingly constructed. I live in Brittany this year and I really like it; the rooms are HUGE and people are still pretty social. The good news is that you'll probably like wherever you end up, so in the end it might not even matter too much what you put as your choices. (Oh, and Hayden is a super popular option so even if you put it as your first choice, you might not get it.)
