I applied for it. Job closes on the 4th. We'll see what happens. I'm sure I'll get an interview, but maybe not a job offer. I have to find out if they are people I'd actually be comfortable working under. I will be asking a lot of questions at the interview, that's for sure!

thanks so much for praying for us. prayers were right on the money- like you said reigniting old relationships, making new friends, sharing the Gospel where possible and just serving people God sent our way. so, is new A Hill in the works? i really enjoyed Omens, it was great. fit my tastes much better then the latest Antestor. btw, is AHTDU's previous record is just as tasty? do they have only two records? and what about In Vain, never heard of them, what can you tell me about them? oh, glad for you getting a teaching engagement (read it in your back-and-forths here at last.fm), this is awesome.

thanks man. i actually looked at a lot of bands in your profile too. I was wondering if you could help me with a couple of things. What mortification album do you think I should start with? I liked some of their stuff like terminate damnation and found some of the other stuff lacking musically and lyrically. Also, what antestor album would you recommend? I didn't give them enough of a listen and think I should just try one of their albums in it's entirety before forming an opinion..

Hello there, Matthew! I just wanted to drop by and tell you that I have finally given "Undeceived" a listen, and I was floored after only one track. I think I'm going to listen to what else this album has to offer. I just came by to tell you that I finally got to listening to it after all this time. :)

atrocious, i had a temporal lobe seizure and dp/dr dissociative episode which has left me a receipt of retrograde/antherograde amnesia.. loss of memory.. and things are settle'in in i guess and life continues but it's hard, concrete, poignant... a hard thing to cope with; neurological impairment particularly seems to linger on... and i seem to vanish with it, or my understand of 'I''. that is to say my thought more so and thought patterns as well, "reality." im happy to talk to you once again though, Matthew, how's life treating you my phd'd friend ;)!

I'll have to look into A Hill To Die Upon's IndieGoGo campaign if I get spending money before it ends. I've listened to their music a bit more and it's definitely impressive. They don't do most of the things (very much, anyway) that I tend to dislike about black metal and the vocalist is really great.

Life is going really well. The wedding was wonderful, and the weather was perfect. We went on a trip to several state parks in NY and ended up at the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. We are mostly settled into our apartment now, and my commute to work was cut in half. God is very good! How did things go with the contract signing? When do you start?

Living Sacrifice - The Hammering Process is a timeless piece of art... as beautiful as a chainsaw cutting through fine china. I was at Creationfest East in 2001 (one year after the release) and got to see them perform most of it live. They had two percussionists... one was a short guy on a "normal" drumset. He had an effects cymbal that was a circular saw blade painted solid black. He wore a bandana covering his face, and it bobbed up and down with his head the whole time he played. He was ridiculous on the double bass pedal. The second percussionist stood on the stage and played on a vehicle rim, and what looked like a piece of a metal steering wheel. Bruce Fitzhugh seemed shy and out of place when speaking, as if he was nervous to be on stage... but when he was growling/screaming/whateveryoucallit... all of that shyness was gone.

Definitely. I haven't listened to any A Hill To Die Upon, but now I feel obligated to. I walked out when I saw they were wearing war paint and figured I was right that they weren't Christian, and now I regret it. This is what I get for walking out before a concert is over.

Have you had a chance to see Broken Flesh live? They're easily the best band I've seen (at the very least, tied). I got to see them on their recent tour when they came somewhat close to where I live. Unfortunately, I didn't know at the time that A Hill to Die Upon was a Christian band and skipped seeing them play so that I could get home earlier due to the long drive. Not that I'm very into black metal, but I wish I had stayed anyway.

Hopefully you will get it soon! I mean even if there is enough new music at the moment to listen to ;) The new ABR and Extol are amazing. And if you haven't yet, listen to the new Spoken album. It's great!

What do you think your favourite Zao album is? Mine is Liberatee, but Where blood, Funeral, and The Fear are really close behind. The Ghost Psalm and If These Scars Could speak give me shivers all the time.

Cools bands that you dig. I'm a big Zao and Extol fan myself. Thought the new Extol really showed that they could still do great things after 8 years of hiatus.

Thanks man, I'm already downloading Horde's Hellig Usvart! I will check all those bands out and see what I like. Are you also a religious person? If so, check out my band if you want to, we play spiritual avant-garde jazz-punk...You might like it...It's spiritual meditative poetry sung in serbian language with psychedelic tunes, we released 1 song so far, enjoy: http://www.last.fm/music/Robinovi+Hudovi/_/Fantazme

I downloaded an compilation but it would be nice if I knew which bands to focus on. I'd really appreciate if you could recommend me few great unblack metal bands that are not too melodic. I like it raw. Thank you!

Thank you for the add! I always loved how black metal sounded but since I am a religious person it kinda ruined it for me. Now that I discovered the essence of unblack metal I don't have that problem anymore :)
