Yes, these are the paintings of an American artist Thomas Cole. Actually, I like the art of the Romantic Period. They convey the emotions, senses and ideas of their creators very well, make a good impression. Also, they are often filled with history that I particularly like. As regards the pictures on your page, I guess you like astronomy, right?

Thanks for accepting. I created this page not so long ago, hence I've not added everything I listen to. I can't add everything at once due to the lack of time, but I hope to fill my library up during this summer. By the way, nice library and "About Me".

Yo Matt, where you ever part of your highschool's debate club? I signed up a couple of months ago and had to debate on energy usage & spending, my position being (unfortunately haha) America. I did excellent though, so I'm quite happy for having had the opportunity to get into this Science and Technology committee ;]. It's fascinating.

Well yeah last week I listened to an album that changed my life, well, a composition. It was written by Morton Feldman, dedicated to his dead friend Philip Guston (the famous abstract expressionist); the composition is four hours long and relies a lot on triggering mental processes, on memory. Most fascinating musical work in my life. Here's a page:http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/morton_feldman/for_philip_guston__the_california_ear_unit_/. I don't know if you would check it out, probably won't because lenght ;_;

Whats up man. I'm sure you've been asked this a bunch but, how you like the Extol track? I preordered the white vinyl with the shirt already and I'm stoked about it. I got a few albums in recently Ark of the Covenant came in the mail today (doesn't release till Tuesday). Also got this cd by a band called Forfeit Thee Untrue, very good stuff. I also recently got the For Today and Fit for a King's newest cds. And, being the vinyl nerd that I am I bought some records during Record Store Day. So, lots of music lately and lots to come.

The worse thing seems to be that this was a self-imposed CON, which amplifies its annoyance. I still will listen to their next record but this one wasn't my cup of tea haha, but well our tastes are a tad different and I've been distancing myself from metal lately, not because I dislike it but because there's a lot of classical music I've found that tends to be more rewarding or emotionally / compositionally engaging. Peace ^~^ [/rant]

I think that you would dig Black Saint a lot, it's generally regarded as one of the best albums of all time (and jazz, for that matter). Sits right there with Trane's A Love Supreme, Davis' Kind of Blue, Dolphy's Out to Lunch and Coleman's The Shape of Jazz to Come, at least so if we're talkin America. I listened to In Vain's new record already and didn't really liked it, to be honst, I've never enjoyed much Opeth and it shares a lot of traits with Still Life (which I hate). The song structures were progressive, sure, but nothing really captivating or ground-breaking imo. The clean vocals also turned me off a bit, it's as if he's trying to pull off Mikael Akerfeldt 2.0, and I guess he succeeds but man do I hate it when bands are Dat derivative. Theres some sexy melodic riffing going, and what a talented drummer they've got (huge-improvement tbh), but that narrow compositional palette restricts them from reaching remarkable heights.

*bookmarked both*. I remember listening to In Vein's record 'Mantra' , was pretty sick although a bit too derivative sometimes (there's this song that basically copies/pastes an intro from Morbid Angel's Domination). Cool man thanks for sharing ;). I'm starting to believe Coltrane's 'Psalm' from ALS is quite possibly the most cathartic piece of jazz music ever written, have you ever heard of Mingus' Black Saint'?

hi matt. for me the wait is finally over re; Mythos. it's superb, the only downside is that it's only 9 tracks. it does however feature my favorite metal voice of Bruce Fitzhugh (to tide me over for the next LS record) on Transhuman. exactly what livingsacrifice meant below...

I got your point concerning the complexity of this world. I think - yes sure God gave us our brain and even if we decide to go by His footsteps, follow His word we should i believe comprehend, concieve the entire creation and it's connection with the Creator... But something is missing i feel... Because the Bible, you know, It was written in a very plain, simple language so every person could understand the truth... And the truth itself seems simple and complex at the same time...

Yes that's what i meant - we had to write term thesis also every year starting from the second course as like you've mentioned with your P.h.D. programs. And at the end we had to write the diploma (honestly only then i wrote somewhat like research where there was some point you know, some results). What you've mentioned it's all very interesting, though it seems to me this is more like discourse or lecture)

Nah, didn't get to go, was too lazy that night haha. There's another concert next friday that's a drive away but it's got like 3 Facedown bands: Ark of the Covenant, Saving Grace, and Those Who Fear. I'd love to go to that but haven't driven that far in a while so I'm not sure if my car is up for it. But yeah so far this Soul Embraced album has some KILLER riffs, the track Transhuman is my favorite because of the guest vocalist :)

Well, today is cool. I got the new Soul Embraced from being a kickstarter supporter. Let's just say, there's some pretty cool guest vocalists. I'm not sure the exact release date but we got it super early. I'll be listening to it later tonight and let you know how it is.

Concerning religion and science - Matt i think these are two different spheres of so to say human self actualisation, self understanding.. I think the main difference lies in aims religion and science pursue. The main question of science is: "How?" you know - how it all works, for example - i must reseach how all this connections between particulate materials of atoms work) And any religion always seek answers on the question: "Why, what for, wherefore?". The reasons... It's like a map: in other to know how it works you study all the signs on it (thier meanings)... BUT - in order to know where you should go you have to answer to yourself wherefore you will walk this or that way, you know... Something like that, this is my view...

Concerning "mashines with souls"... I think - this question will help many scientists to reconsider their attitude towards again - the essential christian questions about actual existance of a soul, of the immortal character of it (as long as they are atheists)... Cause for me honestly - i can't imagine a soul within the "character" (if this is actually a suitable word) of a mashine... You are right - this is rather struggling to answer exactly))
