Dude, turns out the Feathers at ATP is not the New England freak folk band, but a new electro-poppy sounding band with the same name. Not that I mind. I can't find any mention of this new Feathers on this site

I thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you and I'm glad you did too! I thought a couple of members of the audience were rude to her, but she was utterly wonderful. I loved how Mick and John looked like middle aged men popping out to the pub and Polly was Queen Goth!

Ah, thanks for the Bill Fox tip, he seems up my street alright! I've given Franklin Bruno / Simon Joyner goes already but you're right, they just don't quite get there for me. There's a tMG Franklin Bruno cover in this wfmu session at the bottom of the page - I suspect you might already have it, I think it serves as a great compendium of the first half of their career: http://www.the-collective.net/~sashwap/goats/ cheers!

Yes, it was a top class gig - will hopefully see them again some day. I first got into them circa We Shall All Be Healed era but it's only in the last couple of years that it seems to have developed into an obsession. There's still a couple of albums I haven't even properly investigated yet (Nothing For Juice, Zopilote Machine). I've seached in vain for another band that's even half similar - any ideas? Best I can think of so far would be Guided By Voices / Neutral Milk Hotel...

Ha ha I am going completely nuts with Jamie xx fever, and the jj mixtape is thoroughly lovely. The bit in their paper planes version when she sings "I know people who know people who know people too and now we come for you" gives me the shivers. I also see you are re-discovering R Kellz! Good on ya!

Yeah, probably, apparently it's only £5 and I've never seen them before. Salford Crescent is the closest station if you're coming across. Send me a text if you decide to come!

I think Xiu Xiu, Former Ghosts and Zola Jesus all played together in London around the time of the Leeds gig. They seem to be touring continental Europe at the moment too. Have you ever looked at Freddie Ruppert's blog? It can be quite amusing. Apparently Jamie Stewart executed a flying karate kick on someone in retaliation to an attack on Nika/Zola Jesus in St Gallen! http://freddyruppert.blogspot.com/ Oh, and are you aware that Eat Skull are playing Manchester tomorrow? It hasn't really been promoted much.

Yeah, he's a pretty 'intense' performer to say the least! In fact he sustained some form of injury when he played Manchester a few months ago. Did Jamie Stewart perform with Former Ghosts? Blank Dogs had been scheduled to headline a gig at Islington Mill but they were then listed as supporting The Twilight Sad and Errors in a bigger venue. I don't know if they even played in the end. I've seen those videos of Salem! The girl's vocals seem to be particularly weak live. But I'm intrigued. I think it should be amusing if nothing else.

Hello Mark, I couldn't really justify the trip to Leeds for Xiu Xiu and Former Ghosts in the end as I've already seen both bands this year. Seemed like like a suitably angst ridden combination for Halloween though. .Did you attend? And did you get the chance to see Blank Dogs when (t)he(y) toured?
