snowbleed is right, the DAC I have completely takes over for the soundcard, and is its own amplifier for my headphones (or desktop speakers but they're not even worth putting the better sound thru) so its an all in one solution for improving sound on my laptop, and with the line-out cord for my ipod (like $10 or something) it makes that sound perfect too

I just realized you have a FiiO as well! mine is the E7 DAC+amp and I fucking love it. easily as much a jump in quality as getting better headphones themselves. anyway, have you listened to Au Harem yet?? I just listened again on a long bike ride in the sub-40 temperatures and it was perfect. The thing just opens up for days if you let it...

thanks, I'm really enjoying his debut atm. As for Future Days, the whole thing is just perfect. I have a thing for 4 track albums that wrap themselves up so right: A Love Supreme, New Clouds, Flood, Black Saint and the Sinner Lady....

Future Days!!! I hope you enjoy it. I find myself having this weird cooing vocal from the first and final track floating in my head the past week or so.. gonna listen to Alcachofa again tomorrow then The Au Harem after that. If you enjoy it, or even if you do not, you MUST check out his collaboration album from last year, Re: ECM - it's fucking insanely good. I heard it once and bought the damn thing immediately. Completely different from his own work, its a weird minimal fucked up take on the ECM catalogue and it kills me.

Well I guess I should say Alcachofa since it's a bit more 'full' sounding at first and probably catchier, but I think I like The Au Harem D'Archemide more... I think. I have listened only a few times to each and every time I find more reason to believe it's some of the finest techno I've ever heard. Au Harem may feel skeletal at first but it's a beautiful work that really opens up with some headphones or volume or both... also I just got his Salvadore mix/album/thing (I don't know what it is) and it's incredible too, more straightforward dancey, less deep maybe.
