Also, I don't know if you're familiar with this site, but http://www.metal-archives.com/ is pretty much the best source for info on ANY genre of metal: black, death, doom, thrash, traditional, etc. I've spent so many hours on that site I should get a medal or something. But anyway, check it out sometime, I've made tons of discoveries there.

Well, black metal is a HUGE genre, and there's a lot of ground covered. The classic Scandinavian bands are a good starting point--Darkthone, Burzum, Emperor (earlier stuff), Bathory, Mayhem, Gorgoroth, etc. Those bands have a more lo-fi production sound, but nothing as bad as, say, Moonblood or the Les Legions Noires bands. On a slightly different path, there's the newer, mostly French stuff on Norma Evangelium Diaboli records, such as Deathspell Omega, Antaeus, Katharsis, and Funeral Mist. All those bands are more professionally produced, but kind of on an avant-garde tip. If you like Wolves in the Throne Room, though, you'll probably like the French stuff. Anyway, all the bandsf I've mentioned are great if you're getting into black metal. Let me know which bands you like the most so I can recommend some more.

Thanks for sending the Mastodon setlist from the Hammerstein show (10/30/09). I always assume that I'll remember the order, yet I'll wake up in a fog the next morning. What did you think of that show? I'm assuming that you had seen them before. Thanks again!
