I saw your username mentioned in the "Pending Members" thread at "metalheads against the over-scrobbling of mainstream metal" forum. Did they deny you admission? I've been considering quitting that group since I joined, and that would be just the excuse I need to do so. Since reading their forums I'm finding that their whole attitude is a bit childish.

Have you checked out the advance track from Cradle's new album (out Oct 28 in the states if I'm not mistaken)? I'm not sure what to make of it. Definitely sounds like Midian era Filth, maybe too much. Since it's a concept album I'll have to reserve judgment until I hear the whole thing.

Yeah, I'd noticed you were listening to the new Metallica. I haven't grabbed it yet, I get nervous about downloading the big releases with big corporate backing, but on the other hand I'm sure as heck not going to pay for it until I've heard it. I haven't liked anything they've done since the black album (which I recognize the brilliance of even if I'd have probably preferred "...And Justice For All 2" hehe). I've heard nothing but good things about the new one, so maybe I'll take a chance and pick it up tomorrow. Naah, probably not. I'd rather spend my money on artists who actually need it. I'm checking out Scars on Broadway now, seems pretty decent. While I love earlier SoaD, I hated Hypnotize/Mezmerize. I really couldn't believe how awful they were. And I was amazed to discover that Serj's solo album was even worse.

I was actually going to say it was coming out around Halloween but figured that might mean "fuck all" to you also. ;-) I'm pretty sure I read "Fall" anyhow so I can see how you would be annoyed. It's strange for me to imagine it being winter there. How are the winters there, anyway? I think on a song-by-song basis Midian is their best, but I love me a good concept album so Cruelty and Damnation are pretty high on my list, along with Dusk... I would absolutely love a re-recording of Cruelty with the production of Damnation. I agree that Beck's album's are hit-or-miss. I didn't pick up the new one because I was so underwhelmed by Guero. I agree Mellow Gold and Odelay are his peak, but I also like Midnight Vultures and many songs on Sea Change.

Hehe. I just read that Cradle's planning to put out a new album in the fall. I'm not one of those people who think only their early stuff was good, but I thought their last one totally sucked. I mean really, really un-listenable. What did you think? The one before it wasn't great either, but it had some cool songs and nothing horrid.
