Sun 27 Apr – Afternoon Records Five Year Anniversary Party
This may have been the best display of live Twin Cities (and surrounding Midwestern cities) indie-rock anyone could ever come up with.
I've discovered and re-discovered a few bands that sparked and re-sparked my Love of certain music:
The Poison Control Center (AMES, IOWA) - Electrified live performance. They made me dance and fall in Love with Pavement all over again.
We All Have Hooks For Hands (SIOUX FALLS, SD) - A nine-membered band would normally make me a little uneasy, but they all play a valid part and non-tambourine-ish instruments. Reminds me of Wolf Parade..
The Battle Royale (MINNEAPOLIS) - Grace is my old stand partner from orchestra in middle school. She's the cool-girl-in-a-cool-band I always thought I'd grow up to be. Also: my co-worker Mark is the lead singer and he always puts on a fucking awesome show. Instead of itching to see The Faint for the fifth time, I can go see dems with my liq sto ladies.
